DIY Watercolors

Recently we went through our markers and I found a couple that no longer had much life in them. So I decided that I was not going to just toss them I was going to make them worth every penny that I spent on them.

My girls and I made some watercolors for them to paint with on some coloring book pages. This was really simple and even though the markers were running out of color once we started the process we seen that there was still a lot of life left in these markers

An easy Chalk Paint recipe

Chalk Paint

Welcome to another Playful Preschool Wednesday post, where a group of mothers and educators share some free hands on learning activities. Last week we shared our top 10 fun things to do with preschoolers during the summer and this week we are exploring chalk.

My girls have been playing with chalk a lot lately and recently I had to make a change from our chalk sticks. I decided that we would play with some Chalk Paint this week. I tend to like our chalk paint on the thicker side but we don’t like using just cornstarch to make ours cause we end up with a sort of obleck. So we ended up using some baking soda also to combat that oobleck that we get. Great science for the girls to work on.

Baby G was getting a little bored of painting and I can understand cause it’s not for everyone, painting every day. So I needed to change it up cause Fro Baby loves to paint and I like how painting keeps her quite for some time. So I came up with something a little different after staring at some empty glue bottles for far too long.

This idea is not new for the girls seeing how we’ve done Squeeze Bottle Sidewalk Chalk before. So after I got the idea I mixed up some quick paint (Jello based paint, not written yet) in the glue bottles and sat them in the refrigerator overnight. (It’s daddies day to watch them in the morning this is the perfect activity to keep them busy until I return)

Halloween Bath Time Painting

Bath Time Pumpkin Painting

During the toddler years, we spend lots of time getting messy with lots of painting activities for toddlers and I must say that most of our messy play is during bath time. Playing during bath time serves more than one purpose. We learn, get creative and just have plain ole fun all while in the tub.

Homemade Baby-Safe Paint

We are always painting in the house. I don’t know what it is about paint that we love it so much but we just seem to always find ourselves painting. With Baby G in our house I can’t really pull out the paint that we love so much. So I am forced to make our own paint but this time I think I have made a paint that I will use over and over and over and over and…you get the point.

Went through a NO POWER situation for a few hours they say. Perfect timing cause I was using the television to babysit while I did some meaningless cleaning. Like yeah, I really didn’t want to steam clean my dirty kitchen floors after the little boogers came in from playing in mud. (note to self: BUY A FREAKING MOP) So no TV means, it’s all on me letting them let their imagination run wild or mommy guiding this sporadic fun time. *Flash Back- Last night’s fort was everywhere* Guided time it is.
