Writing Tray

Up-Cycled Writing Tray

I created a writing tray from a recycled box that has been a big help for my three-year-old. It makes writing a more feeling activity and this helps her to understand the lines that she is creating. I recommend that before you start to use this tray that you create a few letter and shape card and have your child trace them with their fingers. This will help them to learn the lines and curves. Once they have done that for a while you can then move on to this writing tray.

Numbers 6-10 Pre-Writing Activity

We have been having  really hectic weeks lately, and it’s been leaving me with less time to plan activities. That’s okay with my girls because they love when we learn on the fly, and that’s exactly what we did with this week’s Early Childhood Education Theme: Numbers 6-10.

With no real plan in mind that means I didn’t pull any resources for the week, so I had to use what was at hand. In the end, we ended up with a week long hands-on pre-writing activity that was engaging and creative for both my two and five-year-olds.
Some of the skills we focused on were: counting, tracing and following directions.
Pumpkin Painting

Pumpkin Painting

You’ve seen them in our Easy Fall Sensory Bin and now I’m posting about them. Pumpkin painting is a nice painting activity for toddlers. It’s a nice start with pre-writing and I enjoy the conversation that I have with my toddler when it’s just us painting.
